Year 11 today

Two hundred leavers. Nobody quite knows where they went.

Year 11 transition lands on one or two people: references for every application, in every format, written in the evenings. Then chasing who applied where, who accepted, and who is drifting - before the LA asks for the destination return in October.

Part one · references Free

Write it once. Send it everywhere.

One reference per student, on one template, however many places they apply to. Requests arrive in your system and the reference sends itself. This half of Applicaa Futures costs nothing - set it up yourself.

The bit that makes it work

Tracking only works if they apply through ApplicaaOne. Luckily, they want to.

Every application a student makes on ApplicaaOne pulls your reference automatically and reports the destination straight back to you. For them, it is simply the easiest way to apply - so getting the cohort signed up is not a hard sell.

Why destination tracking matters

A leaver with no destination is a statutory problem, not an admin one.

Every 16 and 17 year old without level 3 qualifications is under a duty to stay in education or training. Local authorities carry a statutory duty to track that participation, identify who is not in it and get them back - and they report it to the DfE every month. Your leavers are in that data.

End of Sept

The September Guarantee deadline

Every young person completing Year 11 must have an offer of a suitable place by the end of September - and authorities lead it working with schools.

Monthly

Reported through NCCIS

Participation, NEET and not-known figures flow from local databases to the DfE every month, and are published by local authority.

Not known

The number nobody can explain

DfE notes that how well 16 and 17 year olds are tracked varies by area. “Not known” counts against you like NEET does.

How it works

Streamline the Year 11 process.

Set up once, then the system does the sending and the tracking.

01

Import your Year 11 students

During set-up, import a list of your Year 11 cohort into the platform.

02

Invite students to ApplicaaOne

Present the ApplicaaOne Launch Pack in an assembly or tutor time, then email students their account invitations.

03

Start completing references

Invite your staff into Applicaa Futures to complete a single reference template for each student.

04

References sent automatically

Whenever a student submits an application through ApplicaaOne, the system sends your reference for you.

05

Manual options available

If a reference request arrives from a sixth form or college outside the network, use the same template to send it manually.

06

The Destination Tracker reports

Meanwhile the tracker builds progress updates, so you can see any student at risk of NEET.
